Participation on RAIL BALTICA
Rail Baltica is a new railway infrastructure project that aims to integrate the Baltic States into the European railway network. Five countries of the European Union participate in the project - Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and, indirectly, Finland. It is planned that the railway line will connect Helsinki, Tallinn, Pärnu, Riga, Panevezys, Kaunas, Vilnius and Warsaw. The construction of the railway line, which will wind through the Baltic States, is called the Rail Baltica Global Project.
The project is largest Baltic-region infrastructure project in the last 100 years.
"Aqua-Brambis" has developed "Rail Baltica Riga railway bridge, embankment and complex construction of the Riga Central Passenger Station" construction project for the external water supply, sewerage and rain drainage networks, (Main Contractor: association "BESIX RERE GROUP", Contractor: "RERE GRUPA" JSC). Also design works for 1st stage of internal water supply and sewerage (Master Design, BIM LOD200) were performed for Rail Baltica Central Railway Station Construction (Contractor: “Belam Rīga", Ltd). Work was very complicated, as work is being done on all parts of the project at the same time and should also be taken into account that the Central Station will not stop its operation during the construction. When it comes to modeling this very ambitious project in a digital environment, "RB Rail" JSC has developed a detailed BIM (Building Information Modeling) strategy that will be used during the design, construction and operation of the line. The strategy defines the rules and principles that must be followed by all parties involved in the project, exchanging and updating the technical project documentation, including design models, drawings and other technical information.
Currently "Aqua-Brambis" carries out the author's supervision of the object.

Largest sewerage pumping station in Riga
On July 11, 2024, the largest sewerage pumping station was opened in Riga at 101 Daugavgrīvas Street with the participation of representatives of the Riga City Council, the management of SIA "Rīgas ūdens", as well as the builders and engineers involved in the project. This 8.7 m high monolithic reinforced concrete building with a 10.8 m deep underground part and the cost of the project reached 13.4 million euros. The new station is an important investment in the city's infrastructure, which allows efficient collection and pumping of wastewater from the left bank of the Daugava to the Biological Treatment Station "Daugavgrīva".
The construction of the object started in the spring of 2021, it was carried out by the construction company SIA "Velve”. The station ensures the collection and pumping of wastewater from the neighborhoods of the left bank of the Daugava to the Biological treatment station "Daugavgrīva".
In 2023, the pumping station pumped total of 25 million cubic meters of wastewater, which is about half of all Riga's wastewater. The old and now demolished sewage pumping station at 101 Daugavgrīvas Street operated for more than 30 years, and it had served its time both technically and morally.
From economic point of view, the biggest benefit from the new station is the saving of technological water and electricity consumption. If approximately 300,000 m3 of water were required for cooling the equipment of the old station, then in the new station, water will not be used for cooling at all, but the electricity consumption is planned to be reduced by approximately 2.5 million. kW or 55% per year.
SIA "Aqua-Brambis" is the author of the project of this object and performed the author's supervision during construction.
©SIA "Rīgas water"
Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers of Latvia (LSGŪTIS) has received an evaluation from specialists of SIA "Rīgas ūdens" (Riga Water) for the best designers of water supply and sewerage systems
The most significant criteria for the evaluation included ensuring the highest quality level of construction project documentation, detailed and high-quality drawings, clear descriptions, and specifications for equipment and materials without significant deficiencies or errors.
SIA "Rīgas ūdens" expressed its appreciation for the positive collaboration with these construction project documentation developers. Building specialists consult with them, take into account the discussions during consultations, and strive to improve the quality of future construction project documentation.
We congratulate our colleagues and wish them to continue maintaining high-quality standards in their work!
Aivars Brambis has been granted the prestigious status of Honorary Member within the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers
Aivars Brambis has been a dedicated member of the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers since its revival, actively participating as a board member. He has also taken on important roles within the Engineering and Transport Constructions section, initially as its leader and currently as the deputy head. Throughout his tenure, he has contributed significantly to the organization's growth and influence within the industry. The association's voice and opinions now carry considerable weight with ministries, legislative bodies and representatives of other public organizations in the sector.

Representatives of the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers and Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers of Latvia visit the largest sewage pumping station in the Baltic States
This station holds the distinction of being the most powerful and also the largest in the Baltic States.
The sewage pumping station is currently being built practically from scratch, and the current station building will be demolished after the construction and commissioning of the object. This station ensures the pumping of approximately two-thirds of all Riga's wastewater to the Biological Treatment Station "Daugavgrīva", however, it has become outdated both in terms of technology and functionality.
The construction project is expected to result in substantial water and electricity savings.
Reconstruction of the pumping station is necessary to guarantee the safe collection and pumping of wastewater from the areas of the left bank of the Daugava to the Biological treatment station "Daugavgrīva". Outdated equipment will be replaced with modern technologies, in general, it is planned to reduce electricity consumption by 1,000 MWh per year, and water self-consumption by at least 250,000 m3 per year until 2024, when the station's construction and adjustment works are planned to be completed. The new sewage pumping station will also exhibit improved environmental friendliness and safety features.
Reconstruction of the largest sewage pumping station in the Baltics is carried out by the construction company "Velve", the construction project is developed and supervised by "Aqua-Brambis".
The total amount of the project is 13.4 million euros.
Object is planned to be commissioned in April 2024.
